Joseph M Formosa has had a 35 years carrier with Bank of Valletta Plc with many years serving in management/executive positions of the bank (especially those related to Strategy, Credit, including Mortgages, Financial control and Marketing) and that of top position as Chief Officer of the Bank. He was also Chairman of the bank’s Card Services Limited which company was mainly responsible for the successful implementation of the international program known as Malta welcomes Visa.
For a number of years, Joseph held the position of General Manager of Lohombus Bank Limited, being a joint venture between the then Mid-Med Bank and BOV which Lohombus Bank, specialized in home loans and subsequently it was acquired by HSBC Plc as its arm for mortgages.
Joseph is qualified in finance, insurance, management and marketing. He is also qualified in Financial Services Operations and Compliance and Anti Money Laundering and Countering Financial Terrorism. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Joseph is well known for his programs related to financial literacy transmitted on radios and private television in Malta

Mr Formosa sits on the board of directors of a few local and international companies and financial institutions in Malta.
